Joe & Chris Glatzel
Joe Glatzel, a seasoned piano player with over five decades of musical experience, is a recognizable figure in Milwaukee’s church music scene. Beginning his musical journey in high school bands, Joe honed his piano skills, and at 19, he was playing six nights a week in Georgia clubs with the cover band “Southwind.” A transformative moment led Joe to Christianity, inspiring his relocation to Milwaukee, where he passionately dedicated his talent to leading worship in various churches and gatherings.
With a commitment to his faith, Joe spent many hours playing for church groups, His versatile and emotive piano playing reflects over 50 years of musical evolution, demonstrating the transformative power of music to connect with others on a spiritual level.
A couple of notable achievements in Joe’s career is the 1982 album “Poema,” where he collaborated with sisters, Geri Kasporwicz and Jeanine Krull, showcasing his versatility as a pianist. The album debut concert filled the pabst theater, accompanied by Warren Wiegrats and his band at the time, “Street Light”.
Beyond this, Joe extended his musical reach by conducting an orchestra and choir, performing at several Metro Milwaukee area churches John Michael Talbot’s “The Lord’s Supper”.
In the early 90’s Joe played with a small ensemble for a large prayer gathering called the solemn assemble in Milwaukee at the then bucks stadium the “Arena”. These endeavors exemplify Joe Glatzel’s enduring musical impact on the local communities, leaving an indelible mark through his talent and devotion.
Chris Glatzel, a seasoned artist based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, draws inspiration from her faith, family, and an imaginative spirit. A mother of six and grandmother to six, Chris infuses her paintings with a blend of light, wonderment, and a spiritual connection to the unseen. Specializing in mixed media, particularly acrylics and oil on canvas, Chris is a storyteller who brings forth themes of transformation, mystery, and childlike awe.
Largely self-taught, Chris has honed her craft over 45 years, emphasizing the importance of getting back to artistic basics. Beyond her own work, she imparts her knowledge as an art teacher, fostering creativity in private schools, private classes, and conferences. Her art, described as “magical” and reminiscent of “fantasy lands,” seamlessly intertwines imagination with realism, creating a visual journey into celestial realms.
For Chris, art is more than a visual experience; it’s a gateway to a realm filled with goodness and light. Her hope is that her creations open viewers’ eyes to appreciate the wonder around them, connecting their inner child to the divine creator.
